Live the Present Moment

0 komentar
Early one morning, a young man rushed to his teacher's house. Without any hesitation, he knocked at the door with all his might while calling his teacher aloud.

The teacher opened the door, rubbing his eyes. There was no doubt that he was still sleepy. "What's the matter? I was still in bed. Anything urgent?"

"Sorry to disturb your sleep, sir. I have come because I have a question." The teacher invited him in.

Wasting no more time, his student started his story. He had a very strange dream that night. In his dream, an angel came and asked him to leave this world. He wanted to refuse, but something seemed to force him. When they were still pushing and pulling, he woke up. He found himself sweating profusely. Feeling very scared, he could not go back to his sleep. What if the angel really came one day and asked him to go? He felt hopeless.

"Sir, when will death come to me?" asked the student, confused.

"I have no idea."

"You definitely know the answer! People come to you when they have problems, and you always know the answers. Please, sir, when am I going to die?" urged the student.

"Well, people die at the age of 70 to 75 on average. But there are some who die younger or older."

Feeling dissatisfied with the answer, he asked again, "In your opinion, sir, what is the proper age for a human to die?"

For a moment, the teacher looked out of the window. Then he answered, "The reality is, as soon as a person is born, the process of decaying has started. From then on, the process keeps going. The person can die any time along the process."

Hearing the answer, the student was shocked. Then he asked another question, "Then, what should I do in this very short life?"

The teacher said, "I don't know."

"If you were me, what would you do?" he asked again.

"I have no idea about what will happen after death. But there is one thing I'm sure about. In this very life, I would never waste my time for nothing. I would live my life loving others and doing good deeds every day."

Smiling happily, the student said, "Thank you very much, sir. Now I understand. My life is too short and valuable to waste. From now on, I will study and work with all my heart. I am going to finish every task given to me as soon as possible. That way, when death comes I will have finished everything. Good bye, sir."

Dear Wise Readers,

We can never guess when we are going to die. Death will certainly come regardless of time, age, gender, possession, etc. Everybody has to die one day. However, if we always try our best in everything, we are ready to face death any time it comes to pick us up. When it does come, we will never regret to have been born as human beings because we have given the best of us to our lives. People will possibly remember us because of the good deeds we have done all our lives.

In every second of this life, sow seeds of kindness. Present our masterpieces in every single aspect of life for the best interest of others and ours. Do not wait until tomorrow what we can do today. Do our very best in every step we make in this path called life. Who knows maybe we will not see the morning light tomorrow because death has already come.

Live the present moment. Never lament what happened yesterday because yesterday is dead and gone. Do not worry about tomorrow because it may never come. Today is the only time available to reach success and happiness. Today is the only time which promises success and happiness to those who are willing and able to actualize themselves totally through hard work and ‘never-give-up' spirit. Do your very best today and success will certainly be yours!
